Mayakoba has an other worldly feel to it. While you know you took an easy flight to get here, upon arrival you are immediately transported into a place where the outside world does not disturb.
From villas bordering the jungled mangroves to lining the beach, each one with views and plunge pools galore, the experience, comfort and privacy of that alone makes it worth the trip!
But let’s talk about some of the fun you can have! We began the morning with kayaking through the Mayakoba canals. This serene and crystal clear water surrounded by lush greens make for some pretty amazing views. We enjoyed a shorter tour for about 1 mile and paired up so we weren’t going alone. I had never really done that before and loved it. It was well guided, easy to learn and just challenging enough that I felt like I had worked off some of my breakfast!
Afterward, we enjoyed a pool party at one of the beach side three bedroom villas. These are perfect for traveling with another couple or two, or even a bachelorette or bachelor group could enjoy the sleeping accommodations of up to 6, kitchen, outdoor shower and tub and beautiful pool.
We were treated to a poolside BBQ that the hotel offers as a service for guests in their villas. Perfect for a casual night or a fun lunch!
After enjoying sun, some sand and great company, we were treated to hair and makeup last night and then to a final dinner that was beyond special.
Gabi Lavor and her incredibly talented team at Canteiro Weddings created that table poolside that was to die for. Gilded palms, candles galore and elements of our surroundings like drift wood and beautiful orchids made for such a special presentation and just drew you in. The marble table was also incredible. Loved it!! Thank you so much Gabi!
And then, our farewell dinner. An Italian menu prepared by the incredibly talented culinary team began with grilled vegetables, fresh burrata and seared ahi tuna. The freshness of every ingredient is something you taste immediately. And savor long after!
Entree was a trio of saffron risotto with lobster, a linguine with mushrooms and a fresh catch. I could not pick a favorite! The Italian cuisine was as authentic as the Thai and as local feeling as the Mexican. This property kicks dining up to another level.
It was such a pleasure being here with so many wonderful women and fellow planners, sharing knowledge and much laughter. And the best part was that Collin was able to document the entire trip for us! He worked tirelessly to capture the beautiful photos you have seen throughout these blogs! Click here to see more of Collin’s work!
Last night we celebrated one month of Marriage, and friend Heather Dwight of Calluna Events in Colorado captured this photo. In addition to being a fabulous planner she can take some pretty awesome photos!!
Hair and Makeup were provided by Styling Trio, and my dress is from Etro. (And something I obsess over daily, lol).
Special thanks to Carolina Moreno and the entire team at Banyan Tree for the opportunity to know this property and become familiar with the culture of the brand that is not only about awakening your senses, but extending genuine service and personal touches so each guest feels special. I very much look forward to returning, and I absolutely urge you to visit!
