Hello From New York City and the 2019 FW bridal fashion week!
Twice each year, the bridal industry converges on the city that never sleeps so that designers from all over the world can present collections to buyers, the press, tastemakers and wedding industry experts. Inspiration comes from everywhere and is as unique as the designers themselves.
Today was the first day of fall market, and I am fortunate enough to be here in NYC this week meeting with a 2019 client and attending the runway presentations. From boldly feminine to fresh and flirty, designers ran the gauntlet today, appealing to so many different kinds of brides. Which always makes me so happy!
A few of my favorite things:
Romona Keveza is, and forever will be a favorite of mine. This independent woman built her brand from the ground up and has created a fashion empire that has dresses celebrities and brides for close to two decades.
Romona launched a new collection, Romona New York, that appeals to the young, fresh bride who could just as easily be somewhere beachy and chic as she could go boho glam. I was totally into the fall bouquet and the wreath!
Romona’s second collection, Legends Romona Keveza is inspired by legendary woman of style. This year, Audrey Hepburn took front and center as a driving force in the designs.
Last, but never least is “the collection” and it is unabashedly classic, fantastically made and beautifully bespoke. My own wedding dress came from this collection! Ans everything about these gowns tells you how bespoke they are. From how they move across a floor to how they fit a body, they are just fantastic.
Theia presented a collection that was all about the women who wear the pieces. Appealing to all shapes, sizes and styles, this lovely collection was built on love.
After Theia, we breezed over to the sensually sumptuous Inbal Dror. Cut down to there, legs for days and sexy skin was the thing for this collection. Inbal designs for a boldly feminine bride who radiants confidence and is not afraid of showing a little skin. The bold statements are softened by filigree details that make each piece a show stopper from sparkle to lace and everything in between.
Also, we obsessed over the pearl headbands, and these are definitely a thing.
Gracy Accad was fresh, light and so fun. This designer really appeals to young bride who loves the prerogative of changing her mind. From long and sleek to high-low and flirty the collection included something for everyone, and it also included two things I obsessed over. 1. was a two piece peplum pants set that was to die for, and the other was a lace bridal track suit. I also loved one of these at Theai and am not mad that bridal athleisure is definitely becoming a thing. Designers are starting to design with an entire weekend of wedding wear in mind and I love that. There was nothing that I enjoyed more than planning four to five outfits for the entire weekend of my wedding. When else is that more fun!?
After Gracy, were were back in Chelsea Market and onto Anne Barge, which is always such a treat. Classic and true to herself always, the brand appeals to a demure, timeless bride. But even with that said, there were headbands at this show also that I loved. The fabrics all seem so light and easy to wear and the glide across the runway floors as they swoosh past me and I love that sound. I have also loved seeing such simple makeup and hair, but here, there was a bold lip and that was gorgeous too!
The last show of the evening is always one of my most favorites. This could be for the location alone, because it will never not be awe inspiring to walk in to the New York Public Library for a runway show. Or for any reason really. But when you pair Reem Acra‘s ethereal, magic designs within the library it is always something special. Last night amped that up even another notch (and who knew that was possible!) by adding amazing talent Preston Bailey to the mix. The gowns were magical, ranging in soft pastels and laden with details that are other worldly like three dimensional floral and lace that is breath taking. From ballgown silhouettes to sleek modern lines this collection has everything, always. And then as part of the finale this incredible table was revealed with floral that was mind blowing! and I was so lucky I had a front row seat to all of it!!!
This morning, after I peel off this face mask and pull my hair together, I am starting the day at Vera Wang. Today is going to feature some amazing designers just as yesterday did, so stay tuned for more from the runways here in NYC!
