I am always a fan of glamour. Hair + makeup and jewels and shoes get me every time. Fashion is an expression of who we are, it can reflect how we feel and even help cultivate how we feel (you know when you slip in to “those” shoes and your walk instantly takes on that swag) 🤩
The Oscars were a blast to watch. From my all time favorite Jennifer Lopez to Julia Roberts to Helen Mirren to Serena Williams. From Charlize Theron to Lady Gaga. I thought Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa has incredible chemistry. And she is just stunning always. I loved Ashley Graham on the red carpet – she proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that size is NEVERRRR what matters but instead fit is what is most important when dressing your body. From the classic looks to the edgy looks were inspiring and beautiful. I don’t have a “worst dressed” because that seems shallow and needlessly cruel to even discuss let alone select.
I loved that there was no host and it moved rather quickly. I thought Queen did an awesome job of opening the Oscars, and I enjoyed each musical performance last night!
I loved this year’s films that were honored. From Roma to Greenbook, and of course A star is born. From seeing the perspective of an immigrant worker first person, to lessons on race relations in our country, to a beautiful, haunted love story that has been told once in almost each generation, I loved it all. The fashions inspire me as much as the work it takes to create these films. From set design to costume creation to screenplay to acting it is all designed to take you someplace and make you feel something. That is exactly what I love to do with the events and weddings we produce. From the story of a gay man who lived his life without apology to Queen Anne, the characters we watched and followed along with this year at the movie theatre were epic.
and those after party moments –
Selma Blair hit the red carpet for the first time after being public about her MS diagnosis, and she radiated beauty, strength, and courage.
So, I loved it. And then, that Nike commercial. And the reinforcement that every woman can just do it. Chase her dream, be her best, cry, scream, sweat, work, pray, and – walk with poise and stretch towards the objectives she has set for herself.
