As many of you know who follow me on instagram, I live a pretty busy life. From wedding planning all over the country (I am writing this blog instead of packing for my NYC wedding happening on Saturday!), to competing with my horses to managing my family’s restaurants and events venue, I tend to move in many directions. At breakneck speed! 😂
While all of that is happening, I am living with PCOS, a hormonal disorder that can wreak havoc with inflammation, fatigue and even immune system vulnerability. So I try to do what I can whenever I can to keep myself feeling good and healthy. I am a huge advocate for self care, and you will often hear me talk about the gift that is epsom salt (especially after working a 12 hour wedding day!), how much I love a good spa day, and why I work with a trainer (who is AMAZING!) to help me with things like mobility and balance. All of this keeps me feeling good, which allows me to be at my best. One thing (of many!) that I picked up from Kourtney Kardashian on her Poosh website was this apple tea recipe, and it is something I have incorporated into my life a few times a week. From Poohs, “The light brew is full of organic ingredients with immune-boosting properties—like turmeric and ginger—making it a great drink to sip first thing in the morning..” , I even love it as a Sunday treat after a big weekend of weddings, horses, restaurants and life! Ingredients and recipe below!
Curcumin is the yellow pigment found in turmeric and it’s a hot topic thanks to its anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant effects. … The fact that curcumin can combat this inflammation is one of many reasons why I love this tea. Also, I am obsessed with my teapot, which always makes tea that much better for me. My grandmother, Ida was an avid tea drinker and whenever I drink tea I always think of her, which is one more reason why I find it all so comforting. ♥️
1 quart of water
1 red apple (sliced into quarters)
2 cinnamon sticks
8 whole cloves
¼ teaspoon of turmeric
1-inch cube of ginger (sliced)
1 bunch of mint
1 lemon
¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
Organic Manuka honey ( I actually substitute my B-Powered superfood honey for this as I love it so much!)
In addition to loving how this tastes, I ams really enjoy the prep for it. It is super easy, and all of the ingredients smell so good!! Especially the fresh mint, this is one part that I love because it is energizing just to smell 😃
My husband brought back this mug for me from Spain, I am an avid mug collector! And choosing mugs from some of my favorite places or my favorite travels always makes my tea time that much more enjoyable!
Enjoy, friends! xo
