Wellington International WCHR

Some moments in life feel like they’re years in the making. Last night at WCHR was one of those moments.

For a few years now, I’ve had some unfinished business with the 3’3” Amateur Owner Classic during WCHR Week—a class that takes place under the lights in the International Ring at one of the most electric, challenging venues in our sport. Riding in this environment is an entirely different experience. The energy is palpable, from the schooling ring to the last jump, and both horse and rider have to adapt to the unique atmosphere.

This year, my incredible Cassius and I took on the challenge once again.

An Unforgettable Performance

In the first round, Cassius jumped his heart out for me, earning a score of 83, which was enough to get us into round two for the first time ever! That alone was a milestone that I had been chasing for quite some time, and the feeling of making it to that next step was indescribable.

The second round wasn’t perfect—I made a mistake—but Cassius, my hero of a horse, never gives up on me. He gave me his all, and together we finished 11th overall in an incredibly competitive class.

It was one of those nights that reminded me why I love this sport so much.

A Journey That Keeps Evolving

I’ve talked about riding at this venue and my journey in this sport before on my blog, and every time I step into the ring here, I’m reminded of just how much growth, perseverance, and passion it takes to compete at this level. It’s never just about the ribbons—it’s about the process, the lessons, and the partnership with your horse.

This year, I’ve started sharing even more behind-the-scenes moments and candid conversations about my riding journey on my new YouTube channel! Gratitude for the Journey

Cassius is turning 16 this year, and I am so unbelievably grateful for him. The past five weeks have been filled with hard work, learning, and the sheer joy of being back in the ring with confidence. To have it all culminate in such a special night was beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Of course, none of this happens alone. A huge thank you to Maggie, Tiffany, and the entire East Winds team for their unwavering support, dedication, and for just being the hardworking, kick-ass team that they are.

And a huge congratulations to Hollin Sutherland on her second-place finish! What an incredible night for the East Winds amateur owners—nights like these make all the hard work worth it.

A special shoutout to my husband, Collin Pierson—because I’m not sure how many husbands would opt in to spend Valentine’s Day cheering on their wife in a night class at a horse show, but mine sure did! Thank you, Collin, for always supporting me, capturing every moment, and being by my side through it all. ❤️

A Special Presence

There was one more person who was with me last night—my dad.

I know he was there, keeping his hands on my shoulders as I walked into that ring. There are some moments in life where you just feel the presence of those who have shaped you, guided you, and loved you unconditionally. Last night was one of those moments.

Thank you, Dad. This one was for you. 🤍

Onward & Upward

As I reflect on this experience, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and excitement. I may have checked one goal off my list, but there are always new ones to chase, new lessons to learn, and more unforgettable moments ahead.

Here’s to the next ride, the next challenge, and the next dream waiting to be realized.
