This week, I had the incredible honor of appearing live on Italy’s national network, TV2000, to discuss a topic that is very much trending right now—the rise in interest around dual citizenship, especially among second- and third-generation Italian Americans.

For me, the Italian dual-citizenship conversation is about so much more than just bureaucracy or the appeal of a passport. It’s about legacy.

My Italian roots aren’t something I simply trace—they’re something I live every day. From earning my degree in Italian language and Renaissance art history, to building a career that bridges two cultures I love deeply, Italy is a part of my work, my identity, and my heart.

Whether I’m planning weddings in Florence or Sicily, curating wines from Lucca for our list at Gene & Georgetti, or proudly displaying our Ospitalità Italiana designation—everything I do is infused with my fluency in Italy’s language, mindset, and culture.

Italian dual-citizenship: The Appeal for Italian Americans

During the TV segment, we explored how more and more Italian Americans are choosing to reconnect with their heritage through citizenship. In 2023 alone, over 190,000 applications were submitted for ius sanguinis—a 241% increase from 2021. It’s a powerful reminder of how meaningful this connection remains, generations later.

To be part of this conversation—live, in Italian—was both thrilling and humbling. Let’s just say they speak molto veloce, and live TV is not for the faint of heart!

But the real takeaway is this: whether in the kitchen, the countryside, or the heart of a celebration, I’m proud to keep building a bridge between the U.S. and Italy through culture, creativity, hospitality, and heart.

Grazie di cuore to the team at TV2000, to Ilaria Del Bianco, and to everyone who tuned in to watch. This was a moment I’ll carry with me always.

Stay tuned—there’s so much more Italian inspiration (and storytelling) to come!
